Safety & Environment Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Safety Compliances

• Continuous focus on safety & keep safety at high level. Maintain high level of employee awareness to enhance safe work environment.
• Assist in Developing and executing Copeland Safety Programs in the workplace according to corporate guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to prepare for Occupational Health & Safety Management System (ISO: 45001:2018 Standard) internal & external audits.
• Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to identify hazards & assess risks.
• Monitor compliance to Safety policies and laws by inspecting employee behaviors and operations.
• Actively participate in Investigating accidents or incidents to identify route causes and in implementing corrective & preventive actions to mitigate the hazards in the processes.
• Assist in Enhancing Departmental Key Performance Indicators
• Ensure timely reporting & closing Safety Audits, Inspections & Observations & related actions.

2. Environment Management

• Day to day monitoring of Wastewater management system
• Consumable & spare management for Wastewater management system.
• Prepare, review, and update environmental compliance reports.
• Prepare for visits of Government Environmental offices.
• Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs.
• Collaborate with EMS Team to prepare for Environment Management System (ISO: 14001:2015 Standard) internal & external audits with continuous interactions with cross functional teams.

3. Safety & Environment Co-ordination

• Conduct employe awareness trainings and for safety and environment topics.
• Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure safety compliance & accident prevention actions.
• Collaborate with environment cell to ensure compliances with central & state pollution control board regulations (CPCB & MPCB)
• Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures.
• Actively participate in organizing Safety & Environment events within & outside organization.

4. Overall plant level discipline

• Identify & improve on unsafe conditions & unsafe behaviors by employees w.r.t. standard Copeland processes.
• Ensure ethical work culture & report unlawful activities & actions.
• Help teams & individuals to perform daily activities with systematic & effortless manner.
• Vigilant for any bad practices & short cuts & report them for timely actions.
• Ensure Safety Compliances by Contractors & external agencies.

Preferred candidate profile

• Engineering Degree/Diploma/Science Graduate with Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS)

3-5 years proven work experience as an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer
