The Sleep Company - Engineering Manager - Backend Systems (15-30 yrs)

Position Overview :

As a Senior Tech Lead or Engineering Manager, you will oversee the development and delivery of cutting-edge backend solutions while contributing to architecture, project management, and team growth. This role demands strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of DevOps, supply chain processes, and Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical Leadership :

- Lead the architecture and design of scalable backend systems, with a primary focus on Node.js and related tech stacks.

- Define and implement DevOps pipelines, ensuring continuous integration, delivery, and deployment best practices.

- Evaluate and integrate modern technologies to enhance system performance and scalability.

Project Management :

- Manage projects using Agile methodologies and tools like Jira, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, QA, and stakeholders, to align on deliverables.

- Monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions.

Team Management:

- Lead, mentor, and groom a team of developers, fostering an environment of learning and growth.

- Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure the team adheres to best practices.

- Manage team performance, set objectives, and support career development goals.

Supply Chain Focus :

- Provide technical insights and solutions to optimize supply chain processes and systems.

- Collaborate with domain experts to design systems that streamline supply chain operations.

Qualifications & Skills :

Technical Skills :

- Strong expertise in backend technologies, especially Node.js.

- Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL), microservices, and APIs.

- Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

- Proven experience in designing scalable and high-performance architectures.

Leadership & Management :

- 6+ years of overall experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or managerial role.

- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with developers and stakeholders.

Additional Requirements :

- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello.

- Familiarity with supply chain processes and systems is highly preferred.

- Proven track record of mentoring teams and improving overall team performance.
