Job Description

Job Title: VP, Corporate & Government Affairs

Reports To: MD or Chairman

Job Summary:

Our client, one of the world's leading producers of key Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and generic formulations is looking for a Vice President, Corporate & Government Affairs.

This is a key executive responsible for leading the company's corporate, public policy, and government relations strategies. This role ensures alignment of external affairs initiatives with the company's mission, goals, and compliance standards while advocating for the organization's interests at local and national levels.

Job Description

1. Strategic Leadership:

o Develop and execute comprehensive corporate and government affairs strategies to advance the company's objectives.

o Provide counsel to senior leadership on public policy trends, regulatory risks, and opportunities affecting the pharmaceutical industry.

2. Government Relations & strategic partnerships

o Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulatory bodies such as state and union ministries including Commerce, Finance, Health & Family Welfare, Industries, and Environment, and industry associations to influence legislation and regulations that impact the business.

o Navigate through regulatory approvals and compliance requirements across all departments, including Pharmaceuticals, Specialty Chemicals, Labor, Pollution Control.

o Liaison with Government agencies like Industries Dept., PCB, Drug Control , Excise, Factories Dept., Explosive Dept., Electrical Inspectorate, TS Transco /TSSPDCL, APEPDCL, APSPDCL, Gram Panchayat, HMDA, Revenue Dept., GHMC, HMWSSB, APIIC, TSIIC, DSO, Police Dept., Fire Dept., DMHO, Boilers Dept.

o Develop and implement strategies to manage and resolve crisis situations efficiently.

o Monitor and respond to policy developments affecting pharmaceutical innovation, pricing, and access.

o Build strategic partnerships with non-profits, advocacy groups, and healthcare organizations to enhance the company's reputation and impact.

3. Corporate Communications:

o Oversee internal and external communications strategies, including media relations, corporate social responsibility, and crisis communication.

o Facilitate effective communication with district administration and other local governmental bodies.

o Act as the company spokesperson for public engagements, media interviews, and industry events.

4. Advocacy and Policy:

o Lead initiatives to promote the company's position on key healthcare issues, including R&D funding, market access, and patient advocacy.

o Collaborate with industry groups and coalitions to shape the healthcare policy environment.

Candidate Prerequisites

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field.

- Minimum of 18+ years in a liaison or government relations role within the pharmaceutical or related industry.

- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory environment and global health policy trends.

- Strong networking abilities and established contacts within relevant government departments and regulatory bodies.

- Proven track record in crisis management and the ability to handle complex, high-pressure situations.

- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.

- In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements within the pharmaceutical industry.

- Demonstrated ability to navigate and influence in highly regulated industries.
