The New Indian Express Group is publishing Newspapers and Periodicals in the States of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa and the Union Territories of Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Yanam and Lakshadweep.

It publishes its newspapers and periodicals from 33 Centers.

It also has Marketing Offices in Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi.

The Company's publications include English Dailies viz.

The New Indian Express and The Morning Standard and Sunday editions The Sunday Express and The Sunday Standard and weekly edition Indulge.

The Morning Standard and The Sunday Standard are published in New Delhi.

The company also brings out Tamil daily Dinamani and Samakalika Malayalam Varika, a weekly magazine in Malayalam.

Position Title: Social Media Head.

Location: Chennai.

We seek a dynamic Social Media Head to lead our engagement strategies across platforms.

Job Overview:

- The Social Media Head will be responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing social media strategies to increase readership, engagement, and brand visibility.

- This role requires expertise in audience growth, real-time news dissemination, and digital storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Strategy & Execution:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy across platforms (Twitter/ X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, WhatsApp Channels, etc.

- Plan daily, weekly, and special campaign calendars in coordination with editorial teams.

- Drive real-time news updates while maintaining journalistic integrity.

- Optimize content for virality, discoverability, and SEO.

Content & Engagement:

- Oversee the creation of high-quality, platform-specific content (text, images, videos, reels, shorts, threads).

- Ensure fast and accurate dissemination of breaking news while adhering to ethical journalism.

- Engage with followers, respond to comments, and manage audience interactions professionally.

- Collaborate with journalists to promote exclusive stories, investigative reports, and editorials.

Growth & Analytics:

- Monitor KPIs (followers, reach, engagement, CTRs, etc.) and optimize strategies based on analytics.

- Track trending topics and leverage hashtags, trends, and user-generated content to boost engagement.

- Conduct A/B testing for different content formats and posting schedules.

- Use analytics tools (Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Twitter Analytics, etc.) to generate reports.

Digital Monetization & Partnerships:

- Identify opportunities for revenue generation through social media (sponsored content, paid promotions, memberships, etc.

- Collaborate with brands and advertisers for partnerships aligned with editorial standards.

- Work with ad sales teams to boost digital ad revenues via social channels.

Crisis Management & Compliance:

- Handle sensitive content with journalistic responsibility and prevent misinformation.

- Manage crisis communication and ensure damage control during controversies.

- Stay updated with social media policies, copyright laws, and ethical guidelines.

Requirements & Qualifications:

- 10 - 15 years of experience in social media, preferably in digital journalism or media.

- Deep understanding of newsroom operations and digital journalism.

- Strong editorial judgment and ability to handle breaking news under pressure.

- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), social media tools, and analytics platforms.

- Creative mindset with expertise in video content (Reels, Shorts, YouTube, etc.

- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).

- Ability to lead and mentor a team of social media executives.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in digital audience growth strategies.

- Familiarity with AI-driven tools for content optimization.

- Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing trends.
