YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As the OWA Asia-Pacific Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the strategy and success of our work in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. You will manage region-specific staff, grow and strengthen our alliance in the region, and publicly represent the OWA. This position reports to the Director of the Open Wing Alliance.
This is a full-time, remote position. This position requires domestic and international travel, equivalent to 8 or more trips per year. This position can be based in Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, or Singapore. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in one of these countries. To enable collaboration with other global team members, this role requires hours outside of 9am-5pm at least two working days per week. More details can be provided at the interview stage.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Develop and refine the OWA s strategy for the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals and driving progress toward key regional objectives. Provide guidance and support to ensure effective execution and measurable impact.
  • Develop and execute member support strategies for the OWA coalition in the region, including various events, training sessions, webinars, programs, and resources.
  • Hire, manage, develop, and mentor OWA regional staff in the region, providing vision, leadership, coaching, training, and accountability.
  • Foster positive relationships and connection among OWA member groups, mediating disagreements when necessary.
  • Build and maintain a deep understanding of effective animal advocacy in the Asia-Pacific. Advise, mentor and build strong relationships with OWA members in the region.
  • Represent and speak on behalf of THL and the OWA at international conferences and networking events.
  • Work with the Director of the OWA on coalition-wide initiatives and other efforts to strengthen the alliance.
In addition to the above essential job duties, other duties may be assigned as business needs arise. These may include non-essential, marginal job duties.

  • Verbal and Written Communication: Minimum C1 level of English required. Proficient verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, accurately, and appropriately to audiences across various cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Adapts communication style to suit different audiences needs.
  • Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Proficient interpersonal skills, with the ability to anticipate, diffuse, and resolve disagreements, confrontations, tensions, and complaints in a practical and constructive manner. Navigates complex relationships with a diverse variety of stakeholders and advises team members on stakeholder engagement matters.   • Mission Alignment: Deep commitment to THL s mission to end the abuse of animals raised for food. Familiarity with the animal protection movement, or other advocacy movements, in the Asia-Pacific region.
