Position Overview:
As a Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) for Data Security Products, you will bridge the gap between engineering and customers. Using technical expertise and marketing skills, you will demonstrate the value of our data security solutions. This role involves collaboration with product management, engineering, sales, and marketing teams to enhance product awareness, adoption, and feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
- Craft and present product demonstrations, as well as develop technical presentations, white papers, and videos that showcase product features and use cases.
- Manage the data-sec-engagement Slack channel, answering all in-depth technical inquiries.
- Take charge of system requirements concerning performance, scalability, and latency, and provide the field with system requirement guidelines.
- Lead architectural workshops, provide substantial technical content, and conduct in-depth whiteboard discussions.
- Oversee the Beta program for new FAM and Risk Analytics features, establishing clear technical prerequisites and detailed entry and exit criteria.
- Perform competitive analyses to spotlight our competitive edge and keep related materials up-to-date.
- Conduct detailed technical training sessions for the SEs, PS, and Support teams.
- Interface with customers at visits, trade shows, and conferences, addressing technical questions.
- Execute technical demonstrations for analysts that highlight product capabilities and use cases, emphasizing our comprehensive solutions.
- Demonstrate technical prowess in partnerships by showcasing platform capabilities and integration workflows with tools like Splunk, Bigpanda, ServiceNow.
- Assist engineering with deal blockers by setting up new data source configurations, streamlining the process for engineering to build support.
A Typical Day Might Include:
As a Technical Marketing Engineer for Data Security Products, a typical day involves a variety of tasks that leverage both your technical expertise and marketing skills:
- Start by reviewing and responding to technical questions in the data-sec-engagement Slack channel, providing detailed answers and ensuring that any complex inquiries are resolved.
- Develop and refine product demonstrations, including updating technical presentations, white papers, and videos to accurately reflect product features and use cases.
This may also involve rehearsing for live demos or recording new video content.
- Assess and update system requirement guidelines, focusing on performance, scalability, and latency to ensure they meet the latest product specifications and customer needs.
- Facilitate architectural workshops and whiteboard sessions, delivering in-depth technical content that educates and engages customers or internal teams.
- Manage the Beta program for upcoming features, including defining technical prerequisites, as well as entry and exit criteria, to ensure a smooth testing phase.
- Conduct competitive analyses to identify our products unique selling points and update marketing collateral accordingly to keep it current and effective.
- Lead technical training sessions for Sales Engineers (SEs), Professional Services (PS), and Support teams to enhance their product knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Interact with customers during various touchpoints, such as visits, trade shows, and conferences, to provide expert technical guidance and demonstrate product capabilities.
- Prepare and perform technical demonstrations for analysts and partners, showcasing how our data security solutions work effectively within broader ecosystems like Splunk, Bigpanda, and ServiceNow.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to resolve deal blockers by setting up new data source configurations, thereby enabling engineering to expedite development and support.
Throughout the day, TME will be balancing proactive tasks such as content creation and training with reactive tasks like responding to inquiries and customer needs.
