Graphene

We are looking to fill the position of Officer/Sr. Officer/Executive focusing on synthesis of graphene and its derivatives (using various techniques using Mechanical Exfoliation, Electrochemical Exfoliation, Liquid Phase Exfoliation, Pyrolysis, Green Synthesis, etc.) and its industrial application in tyres, polymer, battery, coatings, etc.

She/he will also serve as the technical bridge between the company and customers, aligning the technical requirements for application trials. The chosen candidate will be employed at the TACC Limited, Bhopal.


Key Responsibilities:
Synthesis and Characterization:

• Develop and Optimize Synthesis Methods:
• Implement and refine various synthesis techniques for graphene oxide (GO), such as the Hummers' method, modified Hummers' method, and other innovative approaches mentioned above.
• Document and standardize synthesis protocols to ensure reproducibility and consistency.
• Characterize Physical and Chemical Properties:
• Utilize a range of characterization techniques to analyze the properties of synthesized GO and its derivatives
• Interpret and correlate the results from different characterization techniques to gain a comprehensive understanding of the material properties.

Material Processing and Functionalization:

• Investigate Functionalization Methods:
• Explore and develop methods to functionalize GO with various chemical groups (e.g., amino, carboxyl, hydroxyl) to enhance its properties and compatibility with other materials.
• Evaluate the impact of functionalization on the physical and chemical properties of GO.

• Explore Application-Specific Properties:
• Study the performance of GO and its derivatives in energy storage devices (e.g., batteries, supercapacitors).
• Investigate the use of GO in sensors, electronics, and other technological applications.
• Optimize the properties of GO to meet the specific performance requirements of each application.

Applications:

• Design New Formulations:
• Develop novel graphene-based paint and coating formulations by selecting appropriate graphene types, binders, solvents, and additives.
• Utilize scientific principles and existing literature to create innovative formulations.
• Optimize Formulations:
• Conduct systematic experiments to optimize the ratio of graphene to other components for maximum performance.
• Adjust parameters such as concentration, viscosity, and particle size to achieve desired properties.
• Performance Testing:
• Perform rigorous testing to evaluate the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of the formulations.
• Assess key performance indicators such as adhesion, durability, flexibility, and chemical resistance.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge and hands-on experience with synthesis of graphene and its derivatives
• Good understanding of physical characterization techniques
• Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate records, ensuring data integrity, and achieving consistent results.
• Proficiency in MS-Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced environment
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a diverse technical team
• Previous work experience of 0 - 8 years

Educational qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Masters degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on Graphene and/or nanotechnology
