The focus of the role

We are looking for an experienced software test engineer with hands-on test automation and non-functional testing experience. The primary focus of this role is to develop and execute test scripts, test plans, test cases, test data and other testing necessary scenarios. This role will focus on the Non-Functional Testing, Performance & usability Testing.

As Test automation engineer, you contribute and execute on to elevate the automated test coverage ensuring repetitive tasks are automated making software testing more productive and effective. Your role is key in transforming software testing landscape at Telstra by using latest techniques and innovations in Quality engineering. Your knowledge in test planning, enterprise architecture and IT strategy, and experience working within large-scale IT enablement teams are critical to success in this role.

You will be engaged to contribute significantly to test automation and enterprise software quality engineering initiatives, helping to improve quality at scale. To be effective in this role, you need to have good understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) along with knowledge of different types of DevOps tools. Your continuous learning and improvement mindset and collaboration skills are critical to success in this role, as you continue to build your knowledge and expertise in more complex software product delivery.

About you:

Essentials skills:

• 4 to 7 years of strong working experience in Software Automation Testing.
• In-depth knowledge of performance engineering process and different types of tests including load, stress, endurance, stability, resiliency tests.
• Expertise in Test Planning, Test Strategy, workload model design, Test case design, Test Environment Setup, Test Data Setup, Defect Management.
• Good experience in NFR gathering from scratch for performance testing project.
• Ability to understand hardware and software architecture.
• Excellent skill in scripting, design, and execution of Non-functional tests using various tools - LoadRunner, JMeter
• Good Experience in API performance testing.
• Experience in programming language - Java/Python
• Experience with Agile/DevOps performance engineering methodology
• Understanding of Cloud services like EC2, Lambda, Docker, Container and its resources

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with your team to build, test, and maintain testing scripts and their supporting infrastructure
• Understanding the non-functional requirements from business, define test plan/ strategy and test cases/scenarios
• Developing test scripts using open-source tool/s like JMeter and selenium.
• Designing workload model as per the requirements
• Involvement in Test Execution, Test Monitoring, Test results Analysis and reporting, using tools such as Loadrunner, Jmeter, Jira
• Build test automation scripts using programming language - Java/Python, managed using code repos such as Bitbucket, GitLab
• Define and execute environment strategy for SaaS/PaaS hosted applications to ensure successful completion of testing as well as test automation
• Exposure on performance bottleneck identification and experience of reporting discrepancies and analysing them to determine the root causes, evaluate script failure and suggest best practices.
• Identify issues, propose system improvements, and perform repetitive test execution to resolve identified issues.
