Role & responsibilities

Electrical Engineer for a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) role on-site for a major Power Plant Project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Switchyard, Transmission Lines, and Testing & Commissioning of electrical systems, with a strong understanding of power plant electrical infrastructure. The candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the electrical engineering aspects of the project, ensuring that all installations, systems, and equipment meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Management & Supervision:
  
• Supervise and coordinate electrical installations for Switchyard, Transmission Lines, and related electrical systems as part of the power plant project.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases of electrical systems.
• Ensure that electrical work complies with engineering drawings, specifications, local codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with design, schedule, and safety standards on-site.
• Design Review & Quality Assurance:
  
• Review and verify the design of switchyard, transformers, high-voltage equipment, and transmission line systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction progress and quality control.
• Identify and resolve any design discrepancies or issues during the implementation of electrical systems.
• Coordination with Contractors and Stakeholders:
  
• Act as the primary point of contact for all electrical engineering-related activities with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Ensure proper coordination between different disciplines (mechanical, civil, instrumentation) for smooth integration of electrical systems with other plant infrastructure.
• Participate in project meetings, providing updates on electrical system progress, challenges, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Testing & Commissioning:
  
• Oversee and coordinate the testing, commissioning, and start-up of electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, generator systems, and transmission lines.
• Ensure that pre-commissioning and commissioning tests (e.g., insulation resistance, protection relay tests, functional testing, etc.) are executed in accordance with industry standards.
• Supervise the commissioning of protection systems, including relay calibration, trip testing, and system integration.
• Ensure thorough documentation of commissioning procedures, test results, and performance reports.
• Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
  
• Monitor the adherence to safety protocols for all electrical work, ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure that safe work practices are implemented during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Ensure all electrical systems are properly grounded and protected from electrical faults in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all electrical work, including designs, drawings, progress reports, and test results.
• Prepare and review technical documentation related to testing and commissioning, including test procedures, commissioning reports, and electrical system handover documents.
• Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager and client, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and any necessary corrective actions.
