DevOps Engineer - SRE

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled SRE DevOps Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience to lead day-to-day operational activities. The ideal candidate will ensure that all operational Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met promptly and efficiently. This role requires strong collaboration with IT, Network, and Business teams and involves maintaining existing documentation, conducting root cause analysis, participating in regular issue resolution meetings, and providing detailed operational reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in operations and a passion for automation and continuous improvement. Flexibility around working hours, especially during major incidents or events, is essential. The role is on-site only.

Key Responsibilities

• Incident Management & Problem Resolution:
• Monitor, manage, and resolve incidents to meet SLAs in a 24x7 operations environment.
• Identify and address fallouts, ensuring timely processing.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement data and software changes to prevent recurrence, liaising with Level 3 and 4 support when necessary.
• Participate in regular issue resolution meetings and provide detailed reporting.
• Documentation & Process Maintenance:
• Maintain existing documentation for systems, processes, service agreements, and operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
• Data Analysis & Reporting:
• Provide detailed analysis, create reports, and offer commentary on operational progress, system performance, and continuous improvement objectives.
• Utilise Microsoft Excel and other tools to analyse large data sets and generate insightful reports.
• Technical Support & Automation:
• Use MySQL and Oracle databases for querying and data retrieval.
• Develop and maintain scripts using Python and PHP to automate manual tasks and improve efficiency.
• Support the deployment and maintenance of applications and infrastructure.
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS or Azure, and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaboration & Communication:
• Work closely with IT, Network, and Business teams to resolve operational issues.
• Participate in daily stand-up meetings to report on progress and challenges.
• Communicate effectively during escalations and provide timely updates.
• Operations Support:
• Provide expertise in supporting highly available and high-demand customer-facing systems and products.
• Ensure systems are operational, reliable, and perform optimally to meet customer expectations.
• Flexibility to work outside regular business hours during major incidents or events.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps or IT operations roles.
• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience working in a 24x7 operations environment supporting mission-critical systems for external customers.
• Experience supporting highly available and high-demand customer-facing systems and products.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with MySQL and Oracle databases.
• Strong experience with Linux administration.
• Advanced programming and scripting skills in Python and PHP.
• Proven experience with data analytics and reporting.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS or Azure).
• Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Desired experience with Dynatrace and ELK Stack.
• Experience generating reports using large data sets.
• Familiarity with Confluence and Jira is a plus.
