Job Description of Account & Finance Head
Key Responsibilities :
1. Financial Strategy and Planning :
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization's goals.
- Lead long-term financial planning, including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis :
- Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
- Monitor financial performance by analyzing variances from the budget and providing explanations to senior management.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
3. Budget Management :
- Lead the annual budget preparation process, including coordination with various departments.
- Monitor and manage department budgets, ensuring compliance with financial plans.
- Conduct periodic reviews of the budget to ensure financial objectives are being met.
4. Compliance and Risk Management :
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax laws.
- Oversee audits and liaise with external auditors, ensuring that the company meets all audit requirements.
- Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure financial integrity.
5. Team Leadership and Development :
- Lead and manage the finance and accounting team, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff.
6. Cash Flow Management:
- Oversee cash management, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
- Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and investors to support funding needs.
- Monitor and optimize the organization's working capital.
7. Cost Control and Profitability :
- Develop cost control measures and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Ensure that financial resources are used effectively to support the company's profitability.
8. Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate financial information to senior leadership, stakeholders, and investors.
- Prepare financial presentations for board meetings and key decision-making forums.
- Work closely with other department heads to align financial goals with operational objectives.
9. Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
- Oversee tax planning and ensure timely filing of tax returns.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and accounting standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
10. Strategic Financial Initiatives:
- Lead financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, or new investment opportunities.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to improve the financial performance of the company.
Key Skills and Qualifications :
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; a master's degree or MBA (Regular from a well reputed university) is often preferred.
CA qualified
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are often required.
- Experience: At least 8-10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Technical Skills :
- Expertise in financial management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Advanced knowledge of financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial compliance.
Leadership Skills :
- Proven experience in leading and managing a finance team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
