Head - Ports Operations & Maintenance - Iron & Steel Industry (18-30 yrs)

Job Purpose - O&M for Ports Terminal for a Iron & Steel Company

- To Plan and Execute all Operational and maintenance activities to meet the set objectives.

- Ensuring maximization of Port utilization by minimizing downtime through preventive, breakdown, and predictive maintenance schedules / practices. Timely availability of spares through spares planning. Manpower planning & its rationalization.

- Process improvements, Inventory management, conversion cost control, capacity & quality enhancement initiatives and capex projects

QUALIFICATION:

- B.E. / B.Tech. (Mechanical)

- Certifications in Lean Six Sigma would be an advantage

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Accountabilities Activities:

Safety:

- Ensure that safe working practices are followed in the operations vertical without deviations.

- Ensure that all the operational manpower (regular and contractual) is trained in safe working practices.

- Chair the Behavioral Based Safety and ensure regular meetings and actions implementation on the discussed points

Port Operations:

- Fixing up daily targets for receiving and shipment streams in terms of achieving the ABP targets

- Fixing up targets for Mechanical and E&I vertical in terms of capacity availability.

- Ensure smooth inter departmental coordination to facilitate the operations vertical reach its stated targets.

- Ensure smooth port operations for effective shipments.

Driving Performance Management:

- Developing goals for the team in alignment with the business objectives

- Identify developmental programs for the team and provide guidance for the application of their learning.

- Conduct reviews and provide ongoing constructive feedback to the team

Quality, Safety & Environmental System Management:

- Ensuring the implementation of ISO 9000, 14000 & OHSAS 18000 quality system in the department and ensuring adherence to the said norms through continuous monitoring.

- Review of procedures, reports and Forms, Aspects for any change for continual Improvement.

People Management:

- Ensure that adequate growth opportunities are provided to the operational manpower in coordination with the HR department.

- Ensure that the operational manpower is adequately trained with the requisite skill sets in coordination with the HR department.

Audits and Compliance Systems:

- Ensure proper planning and execution for effective auditing and compliance of Quality and safety systems of all Port Operations and

- Maintenance processes and activities

Budgeting & Cost Management:

- Devise ways and means to efficiently utilize critical resources like Power, Water, equipment maintenance and other admin expenses to bring down the bottom line.

- Prepare annual budgets for operations and maintenance and inventory control.
