Job Description

About The Role
  • As a (Senior) Data and Solution Engineer within the Data Platforms Engineering department of the Group Data Services (GDS) organization, you will participate in or lead engineering of solutions on the Swiss Re's Palantir Foundry instance
  • This senior role requires a unique combination of technical knowledge in data engineering, full-stack application development expertise, demonstrated systems architecture know-how and experience, and strong engineering management skills
  • You will be responsible for design, partake in or steer solutions, ensuring that they support Swiss Re's data transformation objectives
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Spearhead the development of complex data engineering solutions, setting best practices and removing ambiguity from implementations
  • Emphasize and support incremental development and evolution of existing solutions
  • Increase prescriptive nature of our solutions in line with industry advancements in data analytics, distributed computing, and machine learning
  • Mentor and develop talent within the team, promoting career growth and building a pipeline of future leaders in data engineering and architecture
  • Ensure effective operational integration of projects and teams onto the Stargate platform, including technical setup, staffing, training, and ongoing support
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business to identify and prioritize data opportunities, translating them into scalable data solutions and analytics applications
  • Occasionally perform reviews of solutions, ensuring compliance with standards and guidelines
  • About You
  • Extensive experience in data engineering and solution design, with at least 5 years of progressive responsibility
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing technical teams and delivering complex data projects, with a track record of incorporating AI and ML technologies to enhance business outcomes
  • Profound technical expertise in Python, Spark, SQL and similar; prior experience with Palantir Foundry a strong plus
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), with a keen interest in AI/ML/LLMs
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, demonstrated experience of steering complex initiatives in a multinational context
  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar preferred
  • Experience in the insurance or financial sectors is a plus
