Job Description
Title : Finance and Accounts Manager
Reporting to : Chief Operations Manager
Responsible for : Finance Management, financial audits, statutory compliance, preparation of country & project budgets, internal audits, monitoring & supervision, reporting fund utilization, risk assessment & mitigation, financial control of local resource mobilization, liaison with HQ & project partners.
Duty Station : Chennai
SEI is an Indian development organization that works with a mandate of âhealth for the poorestâ. Its prime focus is in addressing health and poverty related issues with an underlying philosophy that poor living conditions affects the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
SEI supports the services of several hospitals those engage in treatment and care for people affected by leprosy and that also provide health care for the poor. It collaborates with the Government of India (Go) especially in activities related to the national Leprosy and TB control programs and in view of prevention and rehabilitation of disabilities. Additionally, SEI engages itself in projects of community-based rehabilitation of leprosy affected and other persons with disabilities as well.
Duties:
1) Finance & Accounts:
ï To ensure the overall Financial Management, being the process owner of Tally entries all income and expenses of 3 FRU offices, updating by generating reports pertaining to income and expenses.
ï Reconciliation of accounts with the donations received in the bank via bank statements and entries made in the register.
ï Review, Monitor & Account monthly fund requirements for Fundraising Unit (FRU) offices based on the approvals sought from the Dep. Headâs. and reconciling donations received versus 10 BD issued.
ï To ensure processing of invoice, salaries, travel claims and other vendor payments for the SEI India and its units.
ï Ensure accurate, complete, and timely accounting.
ï Monitor and report to the Chief Operations Manager and CEO the local income generated by the fundraising unit.
ï To report to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances.
ï To create additional analyses and reports as requested by CEO
ï To keep the SEI finance manual up to date and make adaptations as needed and in concurrence with Indian laws and policies.
ï To maintain an asset register, donor form register, cash register, vehicle log register and other register to ensure an annual inventory.
ï To prepare the accounts and relevant reports and documents for the external and internal audit and plan and assist in the audit of the SEI country office, FRU units and all projects implemented by SEI.
ï To ensure the implementation of the recommendation of the auditors.
ï To support the planning or plan (in case the projects cannot provide an auditor that suffices SEIs requirements) of the external financial audit of the project partners; monitor and support the projects for the implementation of the recommendation of the auditors.
ï Manage all accounting transactions.
ï Prepare budget forecasts.
ï Publish financial statements on time.
ï Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
ï Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
ï Ensure timely bank payments.
ï Compute taxes and prepare tax returns.
ï Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
ï Audit financial transactions and documents
ï Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.
ï Comply with financial policies and regulations.
