Job Description: Drilling Fluid/Mud Engineer At Suvira Energy, we seek a Drilling Fluid / Mud Engineer with expertise in drilling operations and fluid management. The ideal candidate will be critical in ensuring operational efficiency and safety in various drilling projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lab and Equipment Preparation:
o Prepare, test, and calibrate lab equipment in the lab or on-site.
2. Fluid Management:
o Prepare and maintain drilling/completion fluid properties and volumes in accordance with the program.
o Supervise the Solid Control Team to optimize the performance of the solids control equipment (SCE).
3. Inventory Management:
o Ensure proper inventories of all mud materials are available on location before and during operations.
4. Monitoring and Analysis:
o Monitor and evaluate trends during drilling to prevent unscheduled events.
o Simulate downhole conditions using software to maximize resources and mitigate risks.
5. Reporting:
o Prepare daily mud reports and end-of-well recap documents.
6. Communication and Collaboration:
o Establish effective communication with clients and rig crew members to ensure seamless operations.
7. Training and Supervision:
o Supervise trainees and ensure they receive adequate training.
o Lead and guide the Solid Control Team to achieve optimal results.
8. Problem Solving and Decision Making:
o Analyze problems and implement solutions to address unplanned events effectively.
9. Testing and Innovation:
o Conduct tests on mud samples and perform pilot tests to ensure quality and compliance.
o Stay updated with and proficient in the latest software and techniques to meet client demands.
10. Operational Safety:
o Work safely and efficiently to foster positive relationships between operators and contractors.
11. Special Operations:
o Participate in plug and abandon operations and completion of wells.
Qualifications:
Work Experience and Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Drilling Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
o 10-15 years of relevant experience in drilling fluid management.
o Expertise in using simulation software and managing solids control equipment is essential.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are a must.
• Proficiency in mud testing, fluid simulation software, and inventory management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unscheduled events.
• Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with teams and clients.
• Commitment to safety and efficiency in all operations.
