Position Summary :
Systems Engineer with expertise with Linux systems administration and networking.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in both on-prem and cloud-based deployments, and expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware or OpenVMS, network engineering, and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) management protocols such as BBF TR-069.
You will develop customized solutions for the 'ECO' software suite and deploy them across various environments, facilitate upgrades during maintenance windows, enhance system reliability through proactive monitoring and automation, and respond to critical alerts in production environments, and serve as the first technical point of contact for the customer.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and directly with customers as necessary to deploy Vantiva's end-to-end device management platform for remote configuration, management, and data collection from subscriber CPE using the Broadband Forum TR-069 & TR-369 protocol stacks.
- Develop and implement customized solutions for the 'ECO' software suite based on customer requirements and high-level design documents.
- Build packages to deploy software, extensions, and configurations into AWS or on-premise environments using RPMs, Ansible, Docker containers, Helm charts, etc.
- Produce comprehensive internal and customer-facing Methods of Procedure (MoP) documentation for deploying and configuring 'ECO' and dependent applications.
- Create and maintain comprehensive internal reference and training documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure consistency in best practices across the team.
- Facilitate deployment of new solutions or upgrades to staging or production environments during scheduled maintenance windows, typically occurring overnight in customers' local time zone.
- Collaborate with operations team to enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance through proactive monitoring and automation solutions.
- Leverage existing automation tools, such as Ansible playbooks, Helm charts, and Terraform to quickly deploy and configure new 'ECO' environments in AWS for development and validation purposes.
- Respond promptly to critical production alerts, collaborating closely with internal and external operations teams, and maintain effective communication throughout the process to ensure swift resolution.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday and weekend or overnight hours as required to facilitate upgrades during scheduled maintenance windows, directly support customers, and to collaborate with team members in various locations.
- Participate in On-Call rotations to manage critical production-related alerts.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field with 3~5 years of experience (or equivalent work experience).
Hands-on experience to involve :
- Linux system administration, including package management, user administration, and shell scripting.
- Proficiency in network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP, and both IPv4 and IPv6.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g, , Bash, Python).
- Designing, deploying, and managing AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, and VPC.
- Web server administration, optimization, and troubleshooting (Nginx, SSL, load balancing, and security).
- Ansible or similar automation tools for deployment and configuration management.
- Operational experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and related containerization technologies in cloud-native or on-premise environments.
- Application of security best practices in cloud environments.
- Basic data retrieval and manipulation tasks in SQL databases (PostgreSQL or Oracle).
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-driven, proactive and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
We will be thrilled if you possess any of the following :
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator certification
- Hands-on experience and proficiency with :
- BBF TR-069 protocol for CPE management
- Configuring and utilizing monitoring and observability systems, such as Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios, AWS CloudWatch, Zabbix, New Relic, etc.
- Management, tuning, and optimization in SQL databases (PostgreSQL and Oracle) or similar relational database systems.
- Handling unstructured or semi-structed data in NoSQL databases such as Cassandra.
- Practical implementation of networking and security best practices in production environments.
- CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins
