Key Responsibility Areas (KRA) for a Quantity Surveyor:
1. Cost Estimation and Budget Management
Should be able to read Architecture , Structure and MEP drawings and prepare appropriate formats for project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts.
Should have knowledge of Govt DSR documents..
Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to budgets.
2. Tendering and Contract Management
Prepare tender documents, contracts, and bills of quantities.
Evaluate and recommend contractors and suppliers.
Negotiate contract terms and conditions.
3. Measurement and Valuation
Measure and value work completed on-site.
Conduct periodic valuations to authorize payments to contractors.
4. Risk Analysis and Value Engineering
Identify potential project risks and provide cost-effective solutions.
Recommend alternative materials and methods to optimize value.
5. Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed records of project progress, costs, and variations.
Prepare regular cost reports for stakeholders.
6. Compliance and Quality Control
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
Verify work meets required quality and specifications.
7. Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication
Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
Facilitate effective communication to ensure smooth project execution.
8. Dispute Resolution and Claims Management
Manage claims and variations with contractors.
Handle dispute resolution processes, ensuring amicable solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift, or similar).
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Knowledge of local building codes, standards, and regulations.
Minimum [5] years of experience in construction or infrastructure projects.
