Technical Writer - Contract-to-hire

Role & responsibilities

• Create, review, edit, organize, and standardize procedural documentation for Information Security and/or other organizational teams.
• Create, review, edit, organize, and standardize complex technical text and diagrams for accuracy, clarity, and completeness, including improvements for grammar, style, and format.
• Ability to identify need for and lead project activities, including:
• Leading meetings with organizational experts (including members of Information Technology, Information Security, Legal, and others) on procedural or technical topics to gain understand and create or update documentation
• Developing schedules and milestones to ensure timely completion of project deadlines, including identification of scope changes, critical path items, dependencies, audit requirements, and others.
• Documenting decisions to ensure audit trail is maintained
• Reporting on project activities to management
• Delivering publication-ready artifacts on time
• Proactively work with assessed teams to produce or incorporate ready-made packages of evidence that can be provided to auditors.
• Develop and provide support for professional and user-friendly templates and forms that increase efficiency, consistency, and corporate identity.
• Ability to partner with colleagues, managers, and directors on department-wide and system-wide projects.
• Requires excellent writing and communication skills
• Experience designing, developing, or editing technical documents
• Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint
• Familiarity with ServiceNow is preferred
• Requires ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
• Understanding of industry-accepted information security concepts across the entire breadth of Information Security an advantage, including familiarity with security frameworks including NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, AICPA Trust Services Criteria, HIPAA, and HITECH
• Understanding of Governance, Risk, and Compliance concepts and principles
• Works during normal U.S. business hours
• Must be able to provide previous experience writing samples to demonstrate documenting abilities
