Job Description
Role Overview
The Cognos Developer at Sophos IT Services is responsible for supporting the technical design, development, deployment, and integration of Data Warehouse Business Intelligence solutions. This role involves participating in the complete life cycle of report development, from requirements analysis and discussion to proof of concepts, development, and testing of the reports. The Cognos Developer will work closely with client to develop reports that present analytics and data from various sources, providing technical support to other team members. This position requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work under pressure.
Location : Noida (On-site)
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design and Development:
- Support functions in technical design, development, deployment, and integration of Data Warehouse Business Intelligence solutions.
- Provide technical support to other team members.
- Participate in the design and code review process for the development team.
- Development Life Cycle:
- Participate in the complete life cycle report development, starting from requirements analysis and discussion to proof of concepts, development, and testing of the product.
- Understand the current architecture of the system and contribute to the delivery of the next releases as per the product roadmap.
- Layout the technical design against functional requirements, write code, test, and deliver.
- Data Management and Visualization:
- Support clients ability to collect, manage, and visualize vast amounts of data to influence decision-making at all levels.
- Solution Architecture:
- Participate in solution architecture, proof of concept/prototype design, infrastructure requirements development, database design, and report testing.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct data analysis, develop reporting specs, develop reports and dashboards, and write complex SQL queries.
Education Other Qualifications
- Education:
- BE/B.Tech/MCA from a recognized university/institute.
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of professional experience working with Cognos (Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager, Active Reports, SDK) and usage of JavaScript and .NET components in Cognos.
- Must have strong technical expertise in RDBMS (SQL queries and PL/SQL is good to have).
- Experience in reviewing functional specifications and interpreting them into technical specifications.
- Experience in decomposing design into development plan tasks and providing accurate effort estimation.
- Understanding of release and build processes.
- Experience working on at least one large to medium-scale project with the above technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Ability to work with flexible work hours that overlap global client location time zones.
Desired Attributes
- Technical Competence:
- Demonstrated ability to work with data warehousing implementations and BI reporting tools.
- Familiarity with ETL design and development processes.
- Domain Knowledge:
- Understanding of pharmaceutical, life sciences, or drug safety domains and products.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines from the FDA and EMEA.
- Personal Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to new technologies and methodologies.
