Software Development Engineer

Software (SWA) comprises the definition, specification, and allocation of requirements from different sources utilising knowledge of systems engineering processes (specification & architecture). 

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• Develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications.
• Collaborate with senior developers to design software solutions based on project requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and adhere to best practices in coding and design.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Troubleshoot and debug applications to ensure they run smoothly.
• Contribute to the improvement of development processes and workflows.
• Assist in the integration of software components and third-party APIs.
• Write unit tests to ensure software functionality and reliability.
  
  

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications: Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1-4 years of experience in Java development.
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Java programming (Java 8 or newer preferred).
• Familiarity with Java development tools (e.g., Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, Maven, Gradle).
• Basic understanding of databases (SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and web services.
• Knowledge of frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, or similar is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for writing clean, maintainable code.
