Job Title: Traffic Planner
Job Overview:
The Traffic Planner is responsible for developing and implementing traffic management
strategies and transportation plans to ensure efficient and safe travel within urban and rural
areas. This role involves analyzing traffic patterns, forecasting future needs, and collaborating
with stakeholders to design and recommend improvements to transportation infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Traffic Analysis and Forecasting:
o Collect and analyze traffic data to understand current traffic patterns and
congestion points.
o Use traffic simulation tools and models to forecast future traffic conditions
and evaluate the impact of proposed changes.
o Conduct studies on traffic volume, speed, and safety to identify areas for
improvement.
2. Transportation Planning:
o Develop comprehensive transportation plans that address both short-term and
long-term traffic management needs.
o Design and recommend improvements to road networks, intersections, and
public transit systems.
o Integrate multimodal transportation options, including vehicles, bicycles, and
pedestrian pathways.
3. Project Design and Implementation:
o Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals to design
transportation infrastructure projects.
o Develop traffic management plans for construction projects, special events,
and road closures.
o Oversee the implementation of traffic control measures, such as signal
adjustments and signage.
4. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure transportation plans and projects comply with local, state, and federal
regulations and standards.
o Conduct safety assessments and recommend measures to enhance road safety
and reduce accidents.
o Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented traffic management
strategies.
5. Public Engagement and Communication:
o Engage with the community and stakeholders to gather input and feedback on
transportation plans and projects.
o Prepare and present reports, proposals, and recommendations to government
officials, community groups, and the public.
o Address public concerns and questions related to traffic planning and
management.
6. Data Management and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate records of traffic studies, project designs, and
implementation outcomes.
o Prepare detailed reports and presentations on traffic analysis, project progress,
and recommendations.
o Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other tools to visualize and
analyze traffic data.
7. Collaboration and Coordination:
o Work closely with municipal planning departments, transportation agencies,
and other stakeholders.
o Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services to ensure effective
traffic management and response.
o Participate in interdisciplinary teams to address complex transportation issues
and develop integrated solutions.
Qualifications:
• Education: Should be a graduate / post graduate in transport planning.
• Experience: Should be a graduate / post graduate in transport planning. Should have at
least 5 years of experience on Traffic management field. Should have experience of at least
one project in traffic planning and management. Should have the experience to set the
ming plan as per traffic survey details.
Working Conditions:
• Full-time position, with occasional work outside regular business hours for project
meetings or field inspections.
• Some travel may be required to visit project sites or attend industry conferences.
• May involve working in both office settings and field environments.
This role is integral to shaping efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation systems,
contributing to the overall quality of life in the community.
