Job Description
We are looking for a n entry/mid-level News writer specialising in gaming to join our team. As a News Writer, you will be responsible for researching, writing, editing and publishing online news articles to inform and engage our audience. Your primary focus will be on delivering creating engaging and informative articles, blog posts, and other written materials related to gaming. This role requires a keen understanding of journalistic principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Research and Fact-Checking : Conduct thorough research to gather accurate information for news stories. Verify facts and ensure the credibility of sources.
- Writing and Editing : Write clear, concise, and engaging news articles that adhere to the SiGMA s editorial standards. Edit and proofread content for grammar, style, and accuracy.
- News Coverage : Be updated on current events and developments in the industry.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with editors, reporters, and other team members to generate ideas, coordinate coverage with social media team , and maintain a cohesive SiGMA editorial voice.
- Adaptability : Quickly adapt to changing news cycles and emerging stories, demonstrating flexibility in covering a variety of topics.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Strong understanding of journalistic principles, including objectivity, fairness, and accuracy.
- Proficient in researching and gathering information from various sources, including interviews, databases, and online platforms.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a demonstrated ability to create compelling and error-free news content.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines without compromising the quality of work.
- Familiarity with technical SEO principles to optimize content for search engines and basic HTML knowledge for content formatting.
Experience:
- Entry-Level: 0-2 years of experience in journalism or related fields
- Mid-Level: 3-5 years of experience with a proven track record of producing high-quality news content.
