News Editor

Key Responsibilities:

• Assign, review, and edit news stories to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with editorial guidelines.
• Work closely with reporters to develop story ideas, angles, and approaches.Manage the news workflow and ensure timely delivery of content.
• Make quick editorial decisions on breaking news and oversee live coverage when necessary.
• Collaborate with digital and social media teams to optimize content for online engagement.
• Ensure all content adheres to ethical journalism standards.Monitor news trends and competitor publications to keep content relevant and competitive.
• Provide constructive feedback to improve quality and effectiveness of reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.3+ years of experience in a newsroom or editorial role, preferably as an editor.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to make quick, sound editorial decisions under deadline pressure.
• Knowledge of AP style or similar editorial standards.
• Familiarity with digital publishing tools, content management systems, and SEO best practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with multimedia and social media content strategies.
• Experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
