Role & responsibilities
Safety Management System: Implement and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) across all plant and terminal operations, ensuring adherence to the companys Safety & Health Policy and Safety Standards.
Safety Audits & Compliance: Conduct periodic safety audits for plants, terminals, and installations (bulk/33kg/LOT) to ensure compliance with state and central regulations. Monitor the status and effectiveness of safety policies and statutory requirements.
Risk Assessment: Perform comprehensive risk assessments for plants to identify and address potential hazards proactively, implementing corrective actions to reduce safety risks.
Training & Awareness : Organize safety training programs across India to build awareness and competency in safety practices for all employees. This includes induction-level training modules for new employees and ongoing education for all plant personnel.
Health & Safety Environment: Maintain a safe and healthy working environment across all business areas, adhering to the "Power of Zero" initiative for zero accidents and losses.
Incident Analysis & Reporting: Analyze near misses, accidents, and incidents to ensure thorough investigation, reporting, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Coordination & Compliance: Collaborate with safety councils, statutory authorities, and internal departments such as HR, Sales, and Technical to maintain compliance and align with corporate safety goals.
Operational Support: As a Safety Engineer, be prepared to support plant operations, stepping in as Plant Engineer when required. This includes managing day-to-day plant activities, assisting the plant team, and ensuring continuity in operations.
Reporting & Documentation: Compile monthly MIS reports to track safety performance, prepare SOPs for critical plant activities, and issue safety guidelines, safety flashes, and quarterly newsletters to maintain transparent and ongoing communication on safety matters.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with transporters, oversee their safety ratings, and ensure crew training for truck/tanker operations. Support health, safety, and environmental policies, and lead safety week celebrations to reinforce safety culture across the organization.
Note: The candidate should be open to taking on additional responsibilities, including acting as Plant Engineer and overseeing operations, if required. This flexibility is essential for effective support of both safety and plant operations.
