An Embedded Systems Manager is responsible for leading both hardware and firmware teams, ensuring timely project delivery, maintaining technical excellence, and managing cross-functional coordination. This role requires a strong mix of technical expertise, project management, leadership skills, and strategic decision-making.

Core Technical Skills
Embedded System Architecture & Design

• Deep understanding of embedded hardware and firmware development
• Experience in microcontroller/microprocessor selection & architecture design
• Expertise in low-power, real-time, and safety-critical embedded systems
• Strong grasp of circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware integration
• Knowledge of C, C++, Python, and RTOS-based firmware development

Embedded Communication & Connectivity

• Expertise in UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS-485, Modbus, Ethernet, USB
• Wireless technologies: BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, Zigbee, NB-IoT, 5G
• Industrial IoT protocols: MQTT, CoAP, OPC-UA, HTTP/HTTPS

Product Development & System Integration

• Overseeing embedded product lifecycle from concept to mass production
• Managing prototyping, testing, debugging, and certification
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards (FCC, CE, ISO 26262, IPC)

Project & Team Management Skills
Project Planning & Execution

• Ability to define project roadmaps, milestones, and deliverables
• Managing multiple embedded development projects simultaneously
• Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies

Resource & Risk Management

• Capacity planning for hardware and software teams
• Identifying risks and roadblocks, implementing mitigation strategies
• Budgeting for prototyping, tooling, and production

Cross-Functional Team Leadership

• Leading hardware, firmware, and software integration teams
• Ensuring alignment between R&D, production, and quality teams
• Collaboration with external vendors, suppliers, and manufacturing partners

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensuring regulatory approvals (FCC, CE, RoHS, ISO 9001, ISO 26262, UL, ATEX)
• Defining hardware testing frameworks and validation procedures
• Ensuring adherence to MISRA C, ISO 21434 (Automotive Cybersecurity)
