Role Summary: Senior Engineer – Mechanical/MEP (Netherlands)
The incumbent will be part of WSP in India – Netherlands Building Services Team, responsible for delivering mechanical engineering and BIM services for Property & Buildings (P&B) sector projects, including substations, commercial buildings, and other infrastructure projects. This role involves close collaboration with Netherlands/local engineers and BIM engineers to perform HVAC design calculations, system selection, PH & FF services, guiding Revit modellers, and overall coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality technical designs, drawings, specifications, and engineering solutions in compliance with international standards and regulations.
- Contribute to technical problem-solving and project execution, ensuring high standards of design quality and innovation.
- Lead and review detailed mechanical/MEP services designs, covering HVAC, plumbing, drainage, gas, and fire hydrant services.
- Participate in peer design reviews, ensuring compliance with internal quality control procedures.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements, technical developments, and cross-discipline coordination requirements.
- Attend project meetings with stakeholders, including teams in Bangalore and the Netherlands.
- Manage project delivery, ensuring timely execution and technical leadership.
- Hands-on experience in preparing technical reports at different design stages (e.g., scheme, design, and detailed reports).
- Prepare equipment selection schedules and BOQ documents.
Project Delivery & Coordination
- Ensure project timelines are met and proactively identify risks or potential delays.
- Support and participate in internal knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance team skills.
- Identify and escalate additional resource or fee requirements to senior engineers or the team lead.
Key Competencies & Skills
Mandatory Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 12–15 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in international project delivery across HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection services.
- Expertise in BIM technologies (Revit, AutoCAD MEP) and design calculations (HAP, load calculations, duct/pipe sizing, pressure drop analysis).
- Strong proficiency in equipment selection (e.g., ventilation fans, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, boilers, pumps).
- Ability to prepare technical submittals for materials and equipment.
- Ability to guide BIM modelers and lead HVAC & plumbing modeling, parametric family creation, coordination, scheduling, and collaboration in Revit.
- Hands-on experience in external utility services engineering (e.g., plumbing, drainage, gas, fire hydrant).
- Ability to produce detailed design drawings (plans, sections, and details) from senior engineers' sketches.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent technical reporting capabilities.
Desired Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project).
- Membership in professional bodies (ISHRAE, ASHRAE, CIBSE, IMechE-UK) and familiarity with European Building Codes & Standards.
- Working towards or possessing Chartered Engineer/Professional License status.
- Strong management and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and within teams.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines effectively.
Qualifications & Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10–12 years of relevant industry experience.
- Extensive experience in MEP services, mechanical design (HVAC, PH & FF), and BIM technologies.
