Job Description
- Provide troubleshooting and support for existing Cognos reports, ensuring proper functionality and addressing any user issues. Investigate and determine if report bug versus underlying data issue
- Actively participate in migration to Snowflake as the new enterprise data platform: i)development of new data modules, ii)develop reconciliation reports to compare current data platform versus new Snowflake to confirm/validate data is consistent, iii)re-map reports to point to Snowflake for sourcing data
- Develop small enhancements to existing report and create several new reports, ensuring that they meet business requirements
- Develop complex queries to retrieve, manipulate, and present data in a clear and actionable format
- Optimize Cognos report performance for large datasets and complex queries
- Collaborate with business analysts and other stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Document all development processes, report specifications, and troubleshooting steps for future reference
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM Cognos, including report authoring, datasets, and data modules
- Proficiency in SQL to write complex queries for data extraction and manipulation.
- Ability to analyze and compare large datasets across different applications and systems
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Understanding of business intelligence concepts and reporting best practices.
- Familiarity with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Knowledge of performance tuning techniques for Cognos reports
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Cognos report development and data integration.
