ScreenRant s authority team is looking for a talented writer and editor to take part in ideating content for interviews and generating headlines.
The ideal candidate is one who enjoys behind-the-scenes work. The candidate will be prepared to direct interviewers towards successful question topics and create site content from interviews conducted by ScreenRant s lead host. We will be relying on the selected candidate to apply their expertise in driving traffic, expanding coverage, improving article quality, and growing ScreenRant s influence in the authority space. The candidate will not be conducting interviews themselves.
Responsibilities
Producing interviews:
Liaise with hosts and other ScreenRant team members to source topics for interviews.
Use knowledge of site trends, Google analytics, and other SEO-related expertise to whittle down possible interview questions and target the highest-priority ones.
Work with site leads to distribute content from a completed interview by sending quotes to respective News teams with efficacy, along with potential titles, and to Features teams for inclusion in articles.
Upon receiving the transcript, use writing and editorial skills to publish lead host s interviews as written articles when necessary.
Publish videos once they are edited in cases where a written article is not needed.
Work with authority lead to edit interview articles from writers who are not self-publishers.
Add crosslinks to articles from completed junkets, ensuring that each exclusive news article links back to the main interview and vice versa. This will require coordination with News and Features teams, as content derived from an interview could be spread out across the site.
Propose and implement effective solutions for achieving the ambitious site output, traffic and revenue targets.
Content planning:
Leverage reporting tools to research and identify topics and that will drive traffic.
Master data-driven decision making.
Manage editorial publishing calendar, plan editorial coverage for off-peak hours
Fill gaps writing and editing as needed
Tracking output and performance.
Expanding ScreenRant s PR & branding efforts:
Work with a PR Manager to help maintain relationships with key industry partners.
Follow-up with junket PR to ensure efficient delivery of junket files to the ScreenRant video team.
Identify and share notable exclusives for newsletter/mailing list.
Identify opportunities for ScreenRant staff to appear as experts in other media (podcast guests, excerpt opinion, etc.)
Reach out to various RP representatives to obtain screeners for the Features team.
Facilitate the scheduling of expert interviews for Features team, such as a scientist for a sci-fi series or a historian for a historical drama.
Interface with PR to request exclusive images or clips for inclusion in seasonal ScreenRant authority articles.
