I applied to many job openings Valnet had at the time and they chose me to write for Screen Rant's tech section, which was exciting. I felt very fortunate to get hired by a company with a website that had 50 million views per month. The exposure was something I looked forward to, since I didn't have any other writing jobs where I was credited author of my work. I got mostly positive feedback for my work, and I felt that I got promoted within the team rather quickly. They also liked my design abilities and they effort that I put into many of my images.

...ust freely add or change sentences. It was like trying to solve a hard puzzle. The pay was paltry; just $10 per article. I figured that I could write multiple articles in a day but I ended up writing no more than 1 article daily due to their low volume of assignments. With how they want their articles structured and along with other tasks such as designing header images and creating links, it took longer for a 500-600 word article than they originally promised. They did give me a raise to $15, but it still felt like just $15 a day for what seemed like a full-time job. They really expect writers to do more with less, as there is no extra pay for revisions or design work. They are constantly hiring new writers, and even though I expressed interest to them assuming multiple positions within the company, they would refuse. Editors would always encourage me to come up with ideas for articles. I had many ideas, but they were more often rejected than accepted. We weren't allowed to write about topics like how to pair a game controller with a phone or antivirus software for Macs, but we were allowed to write about Tesla, Netflix and fitness apps. Again, this was for their "tech" section. My time with them came to an end after they returned 3 articles to me at once, each for frivolous reasons, and told me they needed to be rewritten. That was when I decided the job wasn't worth keeping and that I should look elsewhere.
