- Specimen Examination:Receive tissue samples from various sources, such as surgical procedures, biopsies, or autopsies
- Prepare tissue slides for microscopic examination using staining techniques to enhance visibility of specific structures
- Microscopic Examination:Examine tissue samples under a microscope to identify abnormalities, diseases, or conditions
- Interpret the findings and diagnose diseases, including cancer, infections, inflammatory disorders, and genetic conditions
- Diagnostic Reporting:Prepare detailed and accurate pathology reports summarizing the microscopic findings
- Collaborate with clinicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to discuss diagnoses and patient treatment plans
- Research and Development:Engage in research activities to explore new diagnostic techniques, treatment methods, and understanding of diseases
- Contribute to academic publications and scientific journals with research findings and case studies
- Quality Assurance:Ensure the accuracy and quality of laboratory results by following standard operating procedures and quality control measures
- Participate in quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy
