Job Description :
Responsibilities :
- Participate in product development from ideation to deployment and beyond. Assess what work supports the product strategy and make insightful recommendations regarding priorities.
- Work with product management and be aware of release scope and timelines; coordinate with project/program managers to plan and deliver releases.
- Contribute to design activities and documentation; provide estimates for stories planned in upcoming sprints.
- Take ownership of delivering large, complex tasks/stories with multiple components. Investigate and resolve areas of significant ambiguity. Identify the work and break down tasks contributing to the team's objectives over the next 2-3 sprints.
- Develop good quality code and unit tests.
- The review design approach, estimates, and code developed by fellow team members, and provide guidance and mentorship.
- Create awareness and improve adherence to Bioinformatics best practices and will be responsible for the quality of the Bioinformatics solution delivered.
- Participate in daily scrum to provide a plan for upcoming tasks and ask for help for any roadblocks, Keep the JIRA board updated.
- Manage and mitigate technical risks concerning your project and the work required to achieve your team's objectives.
- Guide team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with SDLC processes defined at the organization level to meet quality goals set at the product level.
- Stay up-to-date on product and process training required to create quality deliverables at each phase of the product life-cycle.
- Participated in conducting training sessions to improve product knowledge and technical skills.
- Mentor, coach, guide and advise team members on technical knowledge and skills required to accomplish team goals and objectives.
- Provide technical leadership - Lead and prioritize the workload of the team.
- Responsible for hiring and onboarding team members.
- Stay up-to-date on technology to deliver quality at each phase of the product life-cycle. You take leadership in evangelizing technical excellence within the team.
Requirements :
- Ph. D. degree with 5-7 years of postdoc or industrial experience or master's Degree with 8-10+ years of industrial experience in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, or related field.
- Must have 2+ years of experience in leading a technical team of 2+ people.
- Technical background in healthcare, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, or pharmaceutical companies
- Excellent programming skills in Python, R, and Shell scripting.
- Experience with Relational databases such as postgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Experience with version control systems such as GitHub.
- Experience with Linux/UNIX/Mac OS X-based systems.
- Experience with high-performance Linux clusters and cloud computing (AWS is preferred).
- Deep understanding of analytical approaches and tools for genomic data analysis along with familiarity with genome databases.
- Candidates with proven expertise in the analysis of NGS data generated on sequencing platforms such as Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, or Thermo will be prioritized.
- Proven ability to innovate with a history of new or improved product releases.
- Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Exceptionally strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills.
- Ability to manage moderately complex projects and initiatives.
- Personal initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to learn and work independently when necessary.
- High energy inquisitiveness and strong attention to detail.
