Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our Arms Development Category. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in reverse engineering, 3D modelling, and new product development using industry-leading CAD/CAM and simulation software. This role requires expertise in SolidCAM, AutoCAD, and other 3D design tools, along with the ability to conduct design analysis, simulations, and prototyping. The candidate will be instrumental in design freeze and ensuring product feasibility, performance, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reverse Engineer existing firearm and defence components to enhance designs and optimize performance.
• Develop 3D models and detailed technical drawings using SolidCAM, AutoCAD, and other CAD software.
• Conduct structural, thermal, and ballistic simulations to validate design integrity and performance.
• Work closely with the R&D team to develop new products and finalize designs for manufacturing.
• Ensure that designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and manufacturing constraints.
• Perform design optimization and material selection for improved durability and efficiency.
• Create manufacturing-ready drawings with precise tolerances and specifications.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and testing teams to refine and improve product performance.
• Assist in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting design-related issues during development.
• Maintain detailed documentation, including BOMs, technical specifications, and design reports.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in reverse engineering, CAD modelling, and simulation in the defence or arms industry.
• Proficiency in SolidCAM, AutoCAD, and other 3D modelling tools.
• Hands-on experience with FEA, CFD, and other simulation software for defence applications.
• Strong knowledge of materials, machining processes, and manufacturing techniques.
• Experience in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM (Design for Manufacturability).
• Understanding of firearm mechanisms, internal ballistics, and defence engineering principles is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced R&D environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
