Job Title : Alation Data Catalog Consultant

Job Overview :

We are seeking a skilled Alation Data Catalog Consultant to implement, manage, and enhance data cataloging solutions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in data governance, metadata management, and integrating Alation with various data sources to ensure efficient data discovery, governance, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the implementation and configuration of Alation Data Catalog, including user roles, permissions, and workflows.

- Integrate Alation with various data sources, including databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and cloud platforms.

- Configure and customize Alation connectors, JDBC drivers, and data lineage extraction processes.

- Define and implement data classification rules, data quality rules, and data profiling activities.

- Promote and advocate for data governance best practices within the organization.

- Collaborate with data owners, data stewards, and business users to define and implement data governance policies.

- Educate and train users on the effective use of Alation Data Catalog.

- Monitor and analyze data catalog usage and identify areas for improvement.

- Define and implement metadata standards and best practices.

- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of metadata within Alation.

- Develop and maintain data lineage across the entire data ecosystem.

- Improve data quality and reduce data redundancy through the use of Alation.

- Provide ongoing support and maintenance for Alation Data Catalog.

- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Alation.

- Monitor system performance and identify potential issues.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest Alation features and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 3+ years of experience as an Alation Data Catalog Consultant or in a similar data governance role.

- Strong understanding of data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices.

- Expertise in implementing and configuring Alation Data Catalog.

- Experience with data integration, data quality, and data lineage.

- Strong SQL and database knowledge.

- Experience with data modeling and metadata management.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
