Job Description
- ob Description: Modernize Models by converting code from Excel-VBA and Matlab to Python and further optimizing the Python code for performance and scalability.
- Skill Requirements:
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated expertise in algorithm development and numerical methods.
- Python Proficiency: Strong command of Python, including a deep understanding of Python syntax and semantics, and familiarity with Python data structures. Proficiency in scientific computing libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, and others is essential.
- VBA Experience: Experience with VBA and the ability to interpret and translate VBA code to Python. Must be able to identify core algorithms and data manipulations performed in VBA.
- Numerical Methods: Experience in implementing numerical methods for solving Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), including discretization techniques and time-step calculations.
- Model Analysis: Ability to analyze and understand existing mechanistic models written in VBA.
- Code Conversion: Skilled in converting VBA models to efficient and well-structured Python code, with an awareness of performance differences between VBA/MATLAB and Python.
- Documentation: Capable of documenting the conversion process thoroughly, including code comments and detailed technical reports.
- Testing: Experience in creating unit tests and other testing methodologies to ensure the translated code produces the same results as the original VBA or MATLAB code .
