Import Export and Logistics Manager

Role & responsibilities:

• Oversee Import and Export Operations: Manage all aspects of importing and exporting goods, including compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Coordination with OEMs and Vendors: Work closely with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and vendors to coordinate shipment dates, clear communication regarding expectations, timelines and specifications of goods to be shipped.
• Logistics Management: Plan and oversee the logistics of all shipping activities, selecting the best shipping methods and negotiating contracts with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers to secure terms and ensure smooth transit of goods.
• Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all import/export activities comply with international and local laws and regulations. Manage and oversee the preparation and submission of all required documentation, such as customs declarations, bills of lading, and other necessary import/export documents.
• Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels to ensure they are maintained at optimal levels. Coordinate with store executives and warehousing teams to monitor stock and manage inventory replenishment based on demand and supply conditions.
• Quality Control: Ensure the quality of goods being imported or exported meets the company standards and specifications. Coordinate inspections and quality checks as needed.
• Cost Control and Budget Management: Monitor and manage expenses related to import/export operations and logistics to ensure they are within budget. Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising on service quality.
• Team Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and direction to store executives and any direct reports involved in the shipping, receiving, and inventory management processes. Conduct performance evaluations, training, and development to enhance team capabilities.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with international trade and logistics. Implement strategies to deal with unexpected delays, customs issues, and other potential disruptions to the supply chain.
• Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and improve import/export and logistics processes. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on import/export activities, shipping costs, lead times, and inventory levels to senior management. Use data analytics to support decision-making and strategic planning.

Required Skills and Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience in import/export operations, Logistics or supply chain management.
• Strong knowledge of International trade regulations, shipping protocols and custom clearance processes.
• Excellent negotiation, leadership and communication skills.
• Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software.
