Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Strategic Manufacturing Lead to oversee and manage the operations of our newly established manufacturing unit in Hosur. The ideal candidate will not only handle operational activities but also play a pivotal role in optimizing inventory, understanding the manufacturing process, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth.
Designation: Strategic Manufacturing Lead
Location: Hosur, Tamil Nadu
Experience Level: 6-8 years
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations & Quality Control and Compliance:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing unit, ensuring smooth and efficient production processes.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Implement and monitor quality control measures and corrective actions.
- Ensure that all plant operations comply with safety regulations and that a safe working environment is maintained.
- Conduct regular safety audits, training sessions, and implement best practices to prevent accidents.
- PnL Management & Accounting
- Develop and manage the plant s operational budget.
- Identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement, while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate books of accounts using Tally ERP.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting, including entries for purchases, sales, expenses, and payments.
- Manages the monthly P&L
- Reconcile bank accounts and manage cash flow to ensure adequate working capital.
- Production Planning, Inventory Control & Process Insights
- Develop and implement production plans to meet business demand and customer orders.
- Ensure optimal resource utilization and ensure production is aligned with sales forecasts and inventory levels.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure accurate raw material, WIP and finished goods records.
- Develop systems to track inventory turnover and optimize stock management.
- Analyze inventory costs to identify and mitigate wastage or inefficiencies.
- Develop a clear understanding of the unit s manufacturing processes, workflows, and cost drivers.
- Identify areas where financial control can help streamline operations and reduce production costs.
- Work closely with operators to link operational metrics with financial outcomes.
- Analyze production variances and suggest improvements for cost-efficiency and productivity.
- Maintenance & Continuous Improvement :
- Oversee the maintenance of plant equipment and machinery, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
- Plan and schedule preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall plant performance.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Provide regular reports on plant performance, including production output, cost analysis, quality issues, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Communicate effectively with senior management to keep them informed of progress and challenges.
- Vendor Management
- Manage vendor payments and maintain healthy relationships with suppliers.
- Negotiate payment terms with suppliers to optimize cash flow.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
- Masters degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) is a plus.
- Minimum of 6 - 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years in a plant management or plant head role.
- Proven experience in managing large teams, production planning, and plant operations.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and supply chain management.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in manufacturing.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on achieving results.
