Position

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Testing Engineer with expertise in SONiC-based mobile backhaul routers . This role focuses on developing and executing test strategies to ensure high reliability, scalability, and performance of mobile backhaul routers leveraging SONiC. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of mobile backhaul networks, SONiC , and strong network testing and automation skills .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for SONiC-based mobile backhaul routers , covering functional, performance, and scalability aspects .
• Design and automate test cases to validate network protocols and ensure high-quality service delivery in mobile backhaul environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements , identify potential issues , and implement solutions for performance optimization.
• Conduct detailed testing on:
  • Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS
  • Quality of Service (QoS)
  • Synchronization protocols: PTP/IEEE 1588
• Perform performance benchmarking, fault tolerance testing, and stress testing to validate router stability under various load conditions.
• Utilize tools for packet generation, traffic analysis, and fault injection to simulate real-world network conditions.
• Analyze test results , document findings, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.
• Stay updated with industry trends in mobile backhaul, SONiC, and network testing to continuously enhance testing strategies .

Requirements

• Education: Bachelors or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications , or a related field.
• Experience:
  • 5+ years in testing network operating systems (NOS) , preferably with SONiC or open-source NOS .
  • Strong knowledge of mobile backhaul networks , including LTE/5G backhaul and synchronization protocols .
  • Hands-on experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS), QoS, and synchronization protocols (PTP, IEEE 1588) .
  • Proficiency with test automation tools (e. g. , Pytest, Robot Framework ) and network testing tools (e. g. , Ixia, Spirent ).
  • Familiarity with Python, Shell scripting , or other languages for test automation.
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting network behaviors, performance metrics, and protocol compliance .
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in an agile environment .

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in mobile backhaul performance testing for SONiC-based network solutions .
• Knowledge of SONiC internals, SAI (Switch Abstraction Interface), and associated test frameworks .
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for network testing environments.
• Understanding of open networking standards and network disaggregation .
• Contributions to open-source SONiC or other networking projects .
