PostgreSQL Developer

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled PostgreSQL Developer to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with PostgreSQL databases, optimizing queries, writing efficient SQL code, and ensuring database integrity and performance. The PostgreSQL Developer will work closely with other developers, database administrators, and system architects to design, develop, and maintain scalable database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases to support high-performance applications.
• Write optimized SQL queries and stored procedures to manage and extract data efficiently.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, including query optimization, indexing, and system tuning.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and scalability in PostgreSQL environments.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate PostgreSQL with web applications and other systems.
• Implement data migration strategies and manage schema changes as needed.
• Assist in database backup and recovery procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues such as data inconsistencies, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities.
• Work with team members to design database architecture and data models.
• Maintain knowledge of emerging PostgreSQL features and best practices.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Developer or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including advanced functions, joins, and query optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL tools and utilities, such as pgAdmin, psql, and pgBouncer.
• Experience with database replication, partitioning, and clustering.
• Solid understanding of database normalization, indexing, and schema design.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize slow-performing queries.
• Experience with data migration and integration strategies.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix-based systems and command-line tools.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and PostgreSQL as a managed service (e. g. , Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e. g. , MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• years of experience working with PostgreSQL in a production environment.
