The SOC Assistant Manager will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Security Operations Centre (SOC) to ensure the organizations IT infrastructure, data, and digital assets are protected from cyber threats. This role involves coordinating and supervising a team of security analysts, monitoring security events and incidents, analyzing potential threats, and collaborating with other security teams to mitigate risks. The Assistant Manager will assist in the development and improvement of security processes and help ensure that the SOC runs effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with security standards.

This role is designed to support the successful and proactive management of the organization's security posture. The SOC Assistant Manager plays a critical role in ensuring security events are effectively managed, risks are minimized, and the organization's overall cybersecurity strategy is successfully executed.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a security operations center, incident response, or related cybersecurity role.
• At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity, managing a team of security professionals.
• Strong experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, IBM QRadar, ArcSight, etc.), network security monitoring, and security event analysis.
• Familiarity with incident management frameworks, such as ITIL or NIST, and experience with incident response procedures.
• Strong understanding of network security, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and security monitoring technologies.
• Familiarity with operating systems (Linux/Unix, Windows, etc.) and network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.).
• Proficiency in using security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection platforms, and intrusion detection systems.
• Experience with data analysis, scripting, or automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.) is a plus.
• Exceptional organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
• Outstanding negotiation, oral communication and presentation skills.
• Experience working with global enterprise, carrier and governmental customers.
  Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Role Responsibilities Include:

• Deep Dive and Advanced Analytics – Identify, develop, manage, and execute analysis to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations that will help shape the direction of the business
• Metrics and Reports - Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analysis, dashboards, etc. to drive key business choices. Ensure data accuracy by validating data for new and existing tools.
• Drive adoption of existing IR methodology for Rakuten INC.
• Drive continuous improvement of defined KPI’s, increase customer satisfaction and Operational Excellence year over year.
• QA check and QA matrix evaluation and running a SOC maturity program.
• Identify areas of improvement(Kaizen) and drive initiatives to address failures in systems and/or process
• Interact with management and staff to provide analytical assistance for continuous support and improvement of SOC solutions
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
• Project management initiation and transition of existing or new projects for India R-SOC Team.
• Assist and execute on day to day activities of the team
• Experience of closely working with Rakuten subsidiaries/groups/departments for the proper Execution/delivery of Rakuten Projects/Operations.
• Adhere to Rakuten ‘s 5 principles while performing his/her duties.
  
  

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent extensive work related experience.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible SOC Operations and People Management experience.
• Industry certifications (such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, CompTIA Security+, etc.) are a plus.
