Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop, review, and update safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure they align with industry best practices and legal requirements.
Ensure all employees and contractors are aware of safety policies and procedures and that they are adhered to at all times.
Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Analyze accidents and near-miss incidents to identify root causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
Ensure proper documentation of identified hazards, corrective actions, and follow-up measures.
Provide safety training and induction programs for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
Organize and conduct regular safety meetings, drills, and workshops to enhance safety awareness and knowledge.
Ensure all employees are adequately trained on personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine the cause, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain detailed records of safety incidents, accidents, inspections, and corrective actions.
Prepare and submit safety reports to management, highlighting trends and areas of improvement.
Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, ISO standards, and other industry-specific regulations.
Ensure that the workplace meets or exceeds all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety laws and regulations and communicate changes to management and staff.
Develop and implement emergency response plans for fire, evacuation, medical emergencies, and other safety-related events.
Ensure first-aid kits and emergency equipment are readily available and well-maintained.
Act as a point of contact in case of emergency situations and assist with coordinating responses.
Regularly monitor workplace activities and employee behavior to ensure safe working practices.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety standards, providing recommendations for reducing risks and enhancing safety performance.
Conduct audits and inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of safety measures and recommend improvements.
Ensure that all necessary safety equipment, tools, and PPE are available, properly maintained, and used in accordance with safety standards.
Conduct periodic checks and maintenance of safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and first-aid kits.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, audits, training, and certifications.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) are highly desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 6-9 years of experience in a safety officer or health and safety role, preferably in a construction, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
Experience in implementing and managing safety programs, conducting audits, and providing training.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and practices.
Ability to conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Detail-oriented, with the ability to identify hazards and recommend effective safety solutions.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software.

Working Conditions:
Full-time position with occasional overtime as needed.
Regular site visits and inspections, which may include working in challenging environments (construction sites, industrial plants, etc.).
