About Valuecart (cross-border business) :
Valuecart is a subsidiary of RK Group. Valuecart pioneered in 2019 in the cross border e-commerce space, a high growth & disruptive space. Valuecart facilitates launching global brands online in India with a primary focus on brands from China, Korea, United States and Japan. The model has now been scaled to around 450+ global suppliers and does an annual GMV of INR 250 Cr. Website: www.valuecart.in
Overview of the Position :
Valuecart, as part of strengthening its leadership, is looking to hire an experienced professional who can head the cross-border business in the role of CEO. This role has till now been headed by the promoter, so the candidate should have an entrepreneurial bent of mind and should be keen on helping the company achieve its vision. We are looking for someone who has at least 5 years of experience in e-commerce leadership roles, led a team of ~50 employees and has rich experience across key functions, viz., Business Development/ Stakeholder Management & Operations; also the ability to oversee the support functions, esp. Finance. The ideal candidate should also have a few years of experience in international trade and e-commerce.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Direction/P&L ownership:
- Develop the annual business plan with key milestones and strategic initiatives for the year, while keeping in mind the long-term vision of Valuecart.
- Own and deliver on the business targets (Top and Bottomline), ensuring a healthy rate of growth (growth rate and territory expansion) while maintaining profitability.
Stakeholder management:
- Work closely with the Business Development team to identify and establish relationships with key partners, including international suppliers, logistics providers, and payment gateways. And manage and nurture relationships with existing partners to ensure smooth operations and business growth.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other key stakeholders: financial institutions, compliance related authorities, etc.
Strengthening Processes:
- Ensure all teams are following SOPs already defined; map and develop SOPs where needed.
- Work closely with the Technology team to streamline processes and build efficiencies (e.g., via automation).
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs procedures, and local laws in target markets.
- Work closely with Finance/ legal and compliance teams to navigate regulatory challenges.
Team development:
- Ensure the existing team (across functions) stays motivated and aligned to business goals.
- Minimize attrition in key roles and help develop the second level of leadership.
- Foster a spirit of problem solving, tech savvy mindset and collaborative environment among team members.
Reporting/Financial analysis:
- Ensure management reports/MIS are shared timely with management, with comprehensive data and analysis.
- Work closely with Finance team to ensure accuracy of data and reports being generated.
Requirements:
- MBA from a Tier I institute with exposure to International Business.
- Has a proven track record as a results-driven Business Leader: must have worked in e-commerce for at least 8-10 years and in leadership positions for ~5 years.
- Has an entrepreneurial/growth mindset and be comfortable with aspirational targets.
- Is a team player and focuses on developing people while achieving business targets. Must have led a team of ~50 employees.
- Has a good understanding of data and should be able to understand financial data/key financial metrics in the e-commerce context.
- Has exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of cross-border e-commerce and international trade regulations is a plus.
Reporting relationships: Reports to the Board of Directors, Valuecart.
Location: Bangalore, with travel as and when required.
Compensation: Not a constraint for the right candidate.
