Job Description

About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Hyperlocal Operations Manager to lead, oversee, and optimize the day-to-day operations in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, and local context. This position is ideal for an experienced operations leader who thrives on solving complex logistical challenges and driving operational excellence in hyperlocal markets.
As a Senior Hyperlocal Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of operational tasks including supply chain management, vendor relationships, workforce optimization, customer experience, and ensuring efficient delivery models. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams to implement strategies that improve service levels, cost-efficiency, and overall performance in a hyperlocal setting.

Job Overview:
The General Manager (GM) of Sales Operations for Fleet Management (Full Truck Load) is responsible for overseeing and managing the sales and operational aspects of the full truckload (FTL) transportation services. This leadership role involves driving sales growth, optimizing fleet performance, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, managing day-to-day operations, and leading a cross-functional team. The GM will work closely with sales, logistics, and fleet management teams to create operational efficiencies, develop long-term business strategies, and foster strong client relationships to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales Business Development :
  • Lead the sales efforts to acquire new clients and expand the customer base for Full Truck Load (FTL) services.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to increase revenue, market share, and profitability.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring high customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to create pricing strategies and proposals tailored to customer needs.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify new business opportunities and adapt strategies accordingly.
2. Fleet Operations Management:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the full truckload fleet, ensuring on-time and efficient deliveries.
  • Collaborate with the fleet management team to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, meet safety standards, and comply with regulations.
  • Optimize fleet performance by implementing strategies to reduce operational costs, enhance productivity, and improve fuel efficiency.
  • Coordinate with logistics and route planning teams to ensure optimal resource allocation and delivery schedules.
  • Manage fleet utilization and monitor performance metrics such as fuel consumption, route efficiency, and maintenance costs.
3. Customer Relationship Management:
  • Maintain close contact with key clients to understand their needs, address service issues, and ensure delivery excellence.
  • Ensure that customer feedback is incorporated into operations to continually improve the service offering.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for strategic clients, handling high-level negotiations, resolving service issues, and managing expectations.
4. Team Leadership Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team, including sales personnel, fleet managers, logistics coordinators, and customer service representatives.
  • Set clear objectives and KPIs for the team and ensure performance targets are met or exceeded.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance across the team.
  • Provide training, coaching, and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.
  • Foster a positive work environment that emphasizes safety, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
5. Financial Budget Management:
  • Develop and manage the budget for sales and operations, ensuring alignment with overall company financial goals.
  • Monitor and control costs associated with fleet management, including fuel, maintenance, and personnel.
  • Analyze financial performance and take corrective actions as needed to improve profitability and reduce operational expenses.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, fleet operations, and budget adherence for senior management.
6. Strategic Planning Business Growth:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop long-term strategies for growth in the FTL market.
  • Identify opportunities for fleet expansion, new service offerings, or geographic growth.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the overall customer experience, from sales engagement through to delivery.
  • Leverage data analytics and market insights to drive business decision-making and ensure operational excellence.
7. Safety, Compliance Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT guidelines, safety standards, and environmental policies.
  • Implement and maintain safety programs and ensure that all fleet operations follow safety protocols.
  • Manage risk and minimize liability by ensuring the fleet adheres to all safety and compliance standards.
  • Conduct periodic audits and reviews of safety records, maintenance logs, and accident reports.
8. Reporting Analysis:
  • Regularly review and analyze sales, operational, and financial reports to assess business performance.
  • Provide senior leadership with insights and actionable recommendations for improving operations and driving sales.
  • Use business intelligence tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics related to sales and fleet operations.
Education:
  • Bachelor s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Fleet Management, Sales Management, Transportation Logistics) are an advantage.
Experience:
  • 12+ years of experience in sales, operations, or fleet management in the transportation and logistics industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing Full Truck Load (FTL) operations and sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, fleet operations, and transportation compliance regulations.
  • Experience in client relationship management and strategic business development.
  • Track record of achieving sales targets and operational efficiency goals.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to drive sales and operational success.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, track performance, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software, CRM systems, and other business tools.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable insights.
  • In-depth knowledge of the transportation industry, particularly Full Truck Load (FTL) logistics.
