Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader for our Quantity Surveying department, specializing in high-rise building projects. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of quantity surveyors and ensuring accurate cost planning, cost control, and financial management of large-scale, high-rise construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of quantity surveyors, ensuring high standards of performance and continuous professional development.
- Allocate tasks and responsibilities effectively to meet project milestones and deadlines.
- Conduct regular team meetings and ensure effective communication within the team and with other departments.
- Cost Estimation & Planning:
- Prepare and review detailed cost estimates and budgets for high-rise building projects from concept to completion.
- Provide cost advice and guidance during the early stages of the project and assist in value engineering exercises to optimize cost efficiency.
- Contract Administration:
- Prepare and manage contract documents, ensuring compliance with client requirements, regulations, and standards.
- Administer contracts, monitor progress, and manage variations and claims to ensure alignment with contractual terms.
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Monitor and track project costs, ensuring they remain within the approved budget.
- Prepare and submit regular financial reports, including forecasts, cost analysis, and cash flow projections.
- Manage project valuation and measurement, ensuring accurate reporting on the financial status of projects.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks to project budgets and timelines and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Review and advise on any changes or delays that may affect project financials.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other project teams, including project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and safety standards related to quantity surveying practices.
- Conduct regular quality assurance checks on measurements and calculations to ensure accuracy.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Education:
- Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Civil, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Membership with a professional body such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 20-30 years of experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in high-rise building projects, including experience with large-scale commercial or residential buildings.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, FIDIC) and quantity surveying practices.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., CostX, Buildertrend, MS Excel).
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
