Cloud Engineer - Kubernetes expert

Purpose:

Shall be responsible for the build of behind-the-scenes software solutions (Enablers) for a wide range of business and organizational functions. And administrating & maintenance of enabler solutions on a self-managed Kubernetes cluster for Non-Prod and Production platform for OBSIT applications.

Mission:

To work on various technologies to maintain/develop Enabler solutions and mentor and coach junior team members.

Key accountabilities:

• Discussing the requirements and the proposed solution with Product Owners
• Design and Build the Cloud Enabler solutions for OBS IT
• Create and maintain complete documentation as it relates to installation and status of enabler solution.
• Administrate the Cloud infrastructure solutions, in particular self-managed Kubernetes cluster and cloud solutions.
• Provide L3 support for run activities of Cloud infrastructure and Enabler solutions
• Contribute to the best practice’s definition and documentation of the Cloud solutions
• Participate to the animation of the Enabler’s communities for the different solutions and services
• Provide ongoing technical assistance to customers (primarily internal) regarding enablers and participate in upgrades and system enhancement projects.
• Design and develop prototype software using the latest open-source technologies.
• Work with senior team members to identify errors and/or deficiencies in specifications and to make required modifications or enhancements.
• Create test plans and perform regression testing and white box testing as modules are integrated into the end systems.
• Follow Agile processes.

Expected Skills (some can be acquired on the job):

• System administration and Cloud infrastructure engineering skills
• Very good knowledge of Kubernetes; Docker.
• Skills in Docker for containerization and Kubernetes for container orchestration
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including their services and architecture
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate tasks and processes.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack to track system performance and logs.
• Good knowledge about tools like Vault, Rundeck, Nexus, AWX.
• Good knowledge in using MySQL / PostGreSQL DB
• Expertise in Linux System Admin
• Basic Familiarity with Platform Engineering concepts, Crossplane & common GitOps tools e.g., FluxCD or ArgoCD
• Proficiency in tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD to automate the software release process.
• Good troubleshooting skills
• Good command on Networking, firewall, storage.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with development, operations, and other teams.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and think critically to solve complex problems.

Educational Qualifications

• B.Tech (Computer Science/IT/Electronics& Telecommunications), MCA, MSC in Computer science or equivalent.

Certifications

Desired: CKA or CKAD & Python
