Roles Responsibilities
The Executive, Indirect Procurement (Primary Metals) plays an important role in overseeing and optimizing the procurement of indirect materials and services within the primary metals sector at ATL Primary Metals and Metal Product manufacturing company. This position focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and cost-efficiency to support operational excellence and business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute procurement strategies for indirect materials and services in the primary metals division.
Conduct market analysis and supplier evaluations to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure competitive pricing.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring terms and conditions are favorable and aligned with company objectives.
Manage supplier relationships and performance through regular reviews and improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and ensure alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities.
Monitor and analyze procurement metrics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
Participate in cross-functional teams to support new product development and continuous improvement projects.
Implement strategies for cost reduction, including value engineering, alternative sourcing, and process optimization.
Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements relevant to primary metals procurement.
Prepare and present reports, presentations, and recommendations to senior management regarding procurement strategies and performance.
Support audits and assessments related to procurement processes and practices as needed.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education and Certifications:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or a related field.
Experience:
2 years of progressive experience in procurement, specifically within the primary metals or metal products industry.
Demonstrated proficiency in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Knowledge of procurement best practices, market analysis, and sourcing strategies.
Experience with ERP systems and procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
Proven track record of driving cost savings and process improvements through strategic procurement initiatives.
Technical / Functional Expertise other competencies:
Understanding of engineering principles and knowledge of casting processes, equipment specifications, and material properties for better coordination and on time in full delivery of required materials services.
Proficiency in project management methodologies to effectively plan, execute, and monitor procurement projects related to capital expenditure and operational enhancements.
Familiarity with casting industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements for procurement,
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
Strong verbal written communication and collaboration abilities.
