Mangrove Afforestation in Mayiladuthurai Coastal District, Tamil Nadu, with Community Participation for Building the Resilience of Coastal Communities

Nature Environment Wildlife Society (NEWS) is a Kolkata based non governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to the conservation of wildlife, ecology, natural resources, and sustainable livelihoods.

Project Manager (One Post) Mayiladuthurai Coastal District, Tamil Nadu Qualifications:

Graduation in Zoology/Botany/Environmental Science or allied subjects (Postgraduate preferred).

Proficiency in English and Tamil reading, writing, and speaking. 5 years of experience in mangrove conservation projects flora, climate change, wetland management, wildlife conservation, or community Proven experience in and achieving defined outcomes. Demonstrated ability in , especially with Government

Passion for working at the interface of community and science.

Capacity to organize and mobilize communities.

Scope of Work:

Understanding community resilience and its connection to biodiversity conservation in the project area.

Identifying habitats and endangered species relevant to the project area.

Facilitating livelihood activities and monitoring Self Help Groups (SHGs). Monitoring project cycle parameters with a Results

Implementing project activities to achieve defined outcomes.

Leading and supervising fieldwork, including administrative, technical, operational, and financial components of the project.

Designing and conducting surveys (biodiversity, livelihoods, socioeconomics, etc.) and preparing analytical reports for advocacy and planning.

Building and maintaining strong collaborations with Government departments and other stakeholders. Preparing detailed reports (annual, half yearly, completion) and content for publications such as pamphlets, brochures, and policy documents.

Facilitating training sessions at the community level.

Overseeing data documentation and record

Skills Required:

5,000 per month (depending on qualifications and experience). Provident Fund (PF): Applicable after completing the training and probationary period.
