Project Manager

Role & responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Compliance:

• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets in alignment with government tender requirements.
• Ensure compliance with government norms, standards, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with design teams to review drawings and BOQs (Bill of Quantities) for accuracy and adherence to tender documents.

2. Government Liaison and Documentation:

• Coordinate with government agencies, officials, and consultants to obtain approvals and resolve queries.
• Manage project documentation, including measurement books (MBs), work orders, and audit records, as per government guidelines.
• Handle inspections and audits conducted by regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of required reports.

3. Execution and Monitoring:

• Oversee day-to-day project activities to ensure adherence to the approved plan and specifications.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure quality standards.
• Manage contractors, vendors, and site teams for efficient resource utilization.

4. Financial and Risk Management:

• Monitor project budgets to control costs and avoid overruns.
• Approve procurement of materials and ensure alignment with government DSR (District Schedule of Rates) or other standards.
• Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.

5. Team Leadership and Coordination:

• Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, and site personnel, ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence within the team.
• Provide training and guidance to team members for managing government-specific requirements.

6. Stakeholder Communication:

• Act as the primary point of contact for government officials, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Prepare and present periodic project progress reports for government reviews.
• Address and resolve stakeholder concerns promptly and effectively.

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Background:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Masters degree in Construction Management or Public Administration (preferred).

Experience:

• 8-12 years of experience in managing government construction projects.
• Proven expertise in delivering infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, buildings, etc.) in compliance with government standards.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in project management tools like Primavera, MS Project, and ERP software.
• Strong knowledge of government tendering processes, BOQs, and DSR.
• Familiarity with measurement books (MBs), rate analysis, and auditing procedures.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.
