Project Coordinator in Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of Road Projects


Position Overview:

The Project Coordinator in Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of road projects is responsible for coordinating and managing various aspects of road maintenance and operational activities. This role ensures that all road maintenance activities are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget, while adhering to safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities


  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Develop and implement project plans for road maintenance activities.
    • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth O&M of projects.
    • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  2. Operational Management:
    • Oversee daily operations and maintenance activities on road projects.
    • Ensure adherence to maintenance schedules and project timelines.
    • Manage and coordinate the deployment of maintenance crews and equipment.
  3. Quality Control:
    • Implement quality control procedures to ensure high standards of road maintenance.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits of maintenance work.
    • Address any project site issues promptly and effectively.
  4. Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
    • Conduct safety training and enforce safety protocols among maintenance teams.
    • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents on site.
  5. Communication and Reporting:
    • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, contractors/vendors and clients.
    • Prepare and submit regular progress reports, including status updates, risk assessments, and issue resolution.
    • Facilitate meetings and provide updates on project progress.
  6. Resource Management:
    • Manage and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, for maintenance activities.
    • Ensure optimal utilization of resources to achieve project objectives.
    • Coordinate with procurement teams for timely availability of materials and equipment.
  7. Budget Management:
    • Monitor project budgets and control costs related to maintenance activities.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality, safety and time schedules.
    • Prepare financial reports and forecasts for management review.
  8. Stakeholder Management:
    • Liaise with government authorities, local communities, and other stakeholders.
    • Address and resolve any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements.
  9. Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including maintenance records, inspection reports, and compliance documents.
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date record-keeping for audit and review purposes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering , Construction Management or a related field.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in road maintenance, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in project coordination and management.

  • Technical Skills:
    • Understanding of road maintenance techniques, materials, and equipment.
    • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
    • Estimation of quantities, rate analysis and overall costing for different works including COS works.
    • Knowledge of safety regulations, quality control standards and different types of compliances on the projects.

  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • The role may require working in various weather conditions and traveling to different project sites.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including weekends, may be required to meet project deadlines.

Reporting Structure

  • The Project Coordinator will report to the Dy. General Manager -O&M (HO) and Vice Precedent-O&M.
  • This role may supervise a team of maintenance personnel and subcontractors/ vendors.
