Data Architect

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead a major data migration initiative. The role involves designing and implementing strategies for migrating data from legacy systems to modern platforms (cloud), ensuring data integrity, scalability, and security. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in cloud platforms, especially AWS, and a solid understanding of database technologies and data migration processes.

Design and develop data architecture for large-scale data migration projects.

Lead data migration efforts from legacy systems (e.g., on-premises databases) to cloud-based platforms AWS

Collaborate with application architects, database administrators, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless data transition and alignment with business goals.

Design ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support data migration, ensuring high availability and performance.

Define data mapping, transformation, and validation strategies during migration.

Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations throughout the migration process.

Optimize existing data structures and processes for performance and scalability in the new environment.

Oversee the execution of migration plans, monitor progress, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

Working knowledge on Kafka api or equalent api architecture.

Provide leadership and mentorship to other members of the data team and stakeholders.

Document migration procedures, best practices, and lessons learned.

Primary Skills (Required):

1. Proven experience in leading data migration projects, especially to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
2. Hands-on experience with data migration tools (e.g., AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), Snowflake, Talend, Informatica)
3. Expertise in data mapping, validation, transformation, and ETL processes
4. Cloud Technologies (AWS focus): Strong knowledge of AWS services relevant to data migration (e.g., S3, Redshift, Lambda, RDS, DMS, Glue).
5. Expertise with relational (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
6. Strong understanding of database performance tuning and optimization.
7. Data Modeling Architecture:
1. Experience with data modeling, database design, and architecture for enterprise systems.
2. Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data lineage.

Secondary Skills:

Programming Scripting:

• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and SQL for data manipulation and transformation tasks.
• DevOps Automation: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automating deployment and migration processes using tools like Jenkins, Terraform, or CloudFormation
• Compliance Security: Knowledge of data security practices and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) for ensuring data privacy during migration
