Role Overview
We are looking for a Process Engineer with strong expertise in process optimization, the development of clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and tooling implementation for sports shoe production. The ideal candidate will have experience in eliminating manual processes, setting up lines at fabrication and assembly plants for new articles before production, and ensuring smooth production readiness. The role requires flexibility to travel between plants to provide on-ground support as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Optimization & Automation:
- Identify manual processes in sports shoe production and implement automation or improvements to streamline operations, reduce downtime, and increase efficiency.
- Develop workflows that integrate technology and process control, optimizing productivity and minimizing human error.
- SOP Development:
- Design and maintain understandable, detailed SOPs for each production process, ensuring all procedures are clear and easy for the team to follow.
- Continuously review and update SOPs in collaboration with the production teams, adapting them to new technologies, materials, or processes.
- Tooling Design & Setup:
- Design and implement necessary tooling (such as jigs, outsole Marking Pads, sole pressing pads, fixtures, molds) to optimize each phase of the production process.
- Ensure proper setup and configuration of tooling at both the fabricator and assembly plant for each new article before production starts.
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions for tooling-related issues, ensuring minimal disruptions during production.
- Line Setup & Pre-production Support:
- Oversee the setup of new production lines at the fabricator area and assembly plants for new articles, ensuring proper integration of machinery, tooling, and processes.
- Work closely with plant teams to ensure all resources and tools are available before production begins, ensuring smooth and timely launches of new products.
- On-site Support & Travel:
- Be flexible and willing to travel to the production plants whenever required to provide hands-on support in line setup, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Ensure that all teams at the production plant are equipped with the necessary training and resources to follow new processes and tooling setups effectively.
- Continuous Improvement & Quality Control:
- Collaborate with the Production team to ensure that all processes meet quality standards and contribute to the reduction of defects and inconsistencies.
- Initiate and drive continuous improvement projects across multiple plants, focusing on reducing waste, improving lead times, and enhancing overall product quality.
What are we looking for
- Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in the footwear industry.
- Experience in eliminating manual processes, process optimization, and designing or implementing tooling (jigs, fixtures, etc.).
- Hands-on experience in setting up production lines and providing on-site support at fabrication and assembly plants for new articles.
- Skills:
- Strong problem-solving ability with a practical, results-oriented mindset.
- Solid understanding of production workflows, manufacturing processes, and automation techniques.
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and managing tooling for optimized production.
- Proficient in CAD or similar tools for tooling design.
- Ability to develop clear, concise, and effective SOPs for manufacturing operations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work across departments and with different teams.
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Travel Flexibility:
Willingness to travel to various plant locations as needed to oversee production setups, troubleshooting, and process support.
Working Days: Monday to Saturday (One Saturday off)
Location: Delhi (Peeragarhi)
Note: Candidates with Footwear industry experience will only be considered.
